RIVER FALLS, Wis. (August 24, 2020) — The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded River Falls Area Hospital (RFAH) the highest five star rating for patient experience in its latest rankings. RFAH is one of only 266 hospitals out of the 3,478 rated to earn five stars.
“We are very proud of our five star rating,” said hospital president Helen Strike. “These ratings recognize our dedication and continuous efforts to provide the highest quality of care to our patients and their families. We are grateful for the commitment of our physicians and staff and honored that River Falls Area Hospital has been recognized as among the best in the nation.”
CMS' summary star rating scores hospitals on a one-to-five-star scale based on the 10 publicly reported measures in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, which assesses patient experiences. The agency started assigning hospitals patient experience star ratings based solely on HCAHPS scores in April 2015.
CMS developed the HCAHPS star ratings to make it easier for consumers to use the information on the Hospital Compare website and to spotlight excellence in healthcare quality.
