New oncologist joins Regina Hospital

HASTINGS, Minn. 10/26/2017 — Regina Hospital is proud to announce that Florence Kotiso, MD, a board-certified oncologist, has joined its staff.

"Dr. Kotiso is a highly-credentialed physician whose expertise will greatly benefit area residents needing cancer care," said Tom Thompson, president Regina Hospital. "He is very kind and a compassionate person, personal traits that I know will be welcomed by our patients in their experience with our oncology service."

Dr. Kotiso is board certified in internal medicine with specialties in medical oncology (cancer) and hematology (the diseases of blood). He served his internship and residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a fellowship in hematology, oncology and transplant medicine at the University of Minnesota.

"I consider it an honor and privilege to care for patients with a variety of cancers and blood disorders," said Dr. Kotiso. "I strive to provide evidence-based, highly specialized and compassionate care. As a fulltime oncologist at Regina Hospital, I hope to establish highly specialized cancer and blood disorders care working in collaboration with other specialties.

"I treat every patient like one of my own family. To the best of my abilities, I empower patients with knowledge about their disease and treatment options, and I guide them throughout this difficult journey," Kotiso added. "Being a good listener enables me to connect with my patients and their families."
