Abbott Northwestern is Twin Cities' #1 hospital says U.S. News & World Report

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. 8/2/2016 — Abbott Northwestern Hospital retained first place ranking for the Best Hospital in the Twin Cities and second in Minnesota in the U.S. News & World Report 2016-17 Best Hospital rankings released today.

Abbott Northwestern also received national rankings in five specialty areas: Cardiology and Heart Surgery (#31); Geriatrics (#41); Gynecology (#16), Neurology and Neurosurgery (#47) and Orthopedics (#14). In addition, Abbott Northwestern earned high-performing ratings in 13 specialties, procedures and conditions.

Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, was ranked third in the metro, fifth in the state. Mercy earned high-performing ratings in 10 specialties, procedures and conditions.

United Hospital, St. Paul, was ranked fourth in the metro, sixth in the state and earned high-performing ratings in six specialties, procedures and conditions.

Unity Hospital, Fridley, earned high-performing ratings in three specialties, procedures and conditions.

All four hospitals are part of Allina Health.

U.S. News evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals. This year, 153 were ranked in at least one specialty, while 1,628 received a high performing rating in one or more specialties, procedures or conditions.
