Interventional neuroradiology

Experience, collaboration, quality

Interventional neuroradiologists specialize in minimally invasive, image-based technologies used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the head, neck and spine. These specialists guide catheters into the arteries of the brain to treat aneurysms or stroke without open surgery.

One of the nation's busiest and most sophisticated interventional neuroradiology practices is located at Abbott Northwestern, with three full-time interventional neuroradiologists and a 25-year history. Two experienced nurse practitioners, and patient care and research coordinators support the program.

Interventional neuroradiology is a technically demanding specialty and requires highly specialized equipment. At Abbott Northwestern, physicians use the most advanced techniques to treat some of the most difficult cases. The program integrates care with colleagues in neurosurgery, neurology, neuro-oncology, intensive care and otolaryngology.
