LEAPT grant, Minnesota Hospital Association

United Hospital was recently awarded a grant from the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) for its efforts to reduce healthcare associated infections, specifically Clostridium difficile, or C diff. United partnered with the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) in an innovative project to identify, develop and pilot evidence-based tools to measure and improve outcomes for patients. Hospitals participating in the Leading Edge Advanced Practice Topics (LEAPT) are sharing results and interventions statewide. Through the work with MHA, United Hospital has made the following improvements:

  • Improved overall hand hygiene compliance by 26 percent using Allina Health and MHA strategies.
  • Sustained environmental cleanliness compliance at or above goal of 80 percent.
  • Allina Health shared its environmental cleaning best practices and monitoring program with MHA. MHA is recommending this model as best practice for all Minnesota hospitals.
  • More information and tools shared by United Hospital are available on the Minnesota Hospital Association website.
