Children's emergency doctors available virtually 24/7 through new partnership

Regina Hospital and Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota are partnering to offer virtual emergency consultation services.

This innovative service, scheduled to start when the hospital’s new Emergency Department opens in January 2016, gives Regina’s doctors 24-hour access to Children’s pediatric emergency expertise.

Through real time, remote, face-to-face health care video interactions, the Regina Emergency Department team can connect with more than 40 board-eligible or board-certified pediatric emergency medicine doctors and numerous pediatric specialists located in St. Paul or Minneapolis.

Emergency Department doctors will be able to securely share patient’s vital statistics, laboratory tests and imaging results in real time with a pediatric emergency medical doctor. By working together, the doctors may be able to expedite the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

They will also determine if the patient should be transferred to a pediatric hospital for more specialized treatment.

This type of health care partnership gives patients access to pediatric emergency expertise close to home, eliminates unnecessary travel time and expense and improves pediatric patient experience.
