[MUSIC PLAYING] The birth center at New Ulm medical center opened its new space in spring of 2013. The beautiful new unit includes two additional labor and delivery rooms for a total of six rooms. It also includes a new nursery, and nurses station, and updates to the other four labor and delivery rooms. We are so excited to open these new labor and delivery rooms at the New Ulm medical center. We have been looking forward to the for the last several months. These rooms have more room for moms and their families, more amenities for the families to be comfortable when they're here, and with their new baby. When you arrive to give birth, our family is ready to welcome your family. Bringing a baby into the world is a special time. In addition to pampering amenities, such as massagers, whirlpool tubs, and your option to order from our full service menu at your convenience, you and your newborn deserve the best that obstetrics and pediatrics has to offer. The birth center at New Ulm Medical Center is operated in partnership with the Alina Health mother-baby service line, and supported by a team of OBGYN's, Family Medicine Physicians who perform obstetrics, pediatricians, and experienced nurses. Our partnership with children's hospitals and clinics of Minnesota insures excellent care for those babies who may have additional needs. When I was pregnant with my first daughter I was educated as much as I could be. And when all the steps started falling into place to bring her into this world, I'm making calls into the birth center. And when it was time, I called in and the nurse at the birth center said to me, oh, Sarah, we've been expecting your call. The nursing staff were always available for me if I needed them, which is really nice. They came in and they had to take Marley a few times. By otherwise they were always here for me if I needed them. Because we had her in the room with us always. They were always very helpful. Everybody was extremely helpful here. Made me feel welcome. Our patients told us that they needed more space for family and friends, and we listened. The new suites in the birth center are larger and more family friendly. New sleeper sofas are available for mom's support person. With the new unit, the birth center is able to create a more private space for mothers, babies, and family members. The birth centers a great example of a space designed for a purpose. Having a baby is a very natural process, yet there are potential risks with it. And what we want is an experience for the patient to notice the comfort of the room, the support of the staff, but really have the technology become invisible. New Ulm Medical Center delivers about 300 babies annually. And that number is expected to increase. More than ever there's a strong need for a regional power center in our area that provides mother-baby focused care. And that's what we plan to provide with this new birth center. We're really excited. We know we'll be serving patients within a 45 mile radius of New Ulm. And we look forward to serving our community and our patients that live in our area. None of these additions or upgrades would have been possible without the generous support of our donors. New Ulm Medical Center has been very fortunate to have the community behind us to help us accomplish great projects like this. We've had over 700 donors who donated $200,000 to help make the Birth Center Project a reality. And we're very grateful for that support. I've always been touched by the phrase that it take a community to raise a child. And As? A physician, I've learned that it takes a community to build a quality health care system. [MUSIC PLAYING]
