    LGBTQ Grief Support Group

    A drop-in support group for the LGBTQ community who've lost someone due to death, facilitated by an Allina Health Hospice grief counselor.

    Men's Grief Support Group

    A drop-in support group for men who've lost someone due to death, in a supportive group environment, facilitated by Allina Health Hospice grief counselor

    Mother Loss for Adult Daughters

    Six-week support group series for daughters of mothers who have died within the last two years.

    The Capitol City Grief Coalition sponsors various education and support groups.

    Surviving the Winter Holidays

    Celebrations during the holidays can highlight the loneliness we feel after a loss that can leave us feeling out of sync with the world around us. It may be helpful to anticipate some of the grief triggers the holidays may bring and plan ahead for them. There are ways to navigate the holidays that help lessen the pain and increase the possibility of hope.

    Adult Loss Therapy Groups

    The Center for Grief offers therapy groups designed to provide a safe and supportive setting for people to share their loss journey with others. These groups are facilitated by professional grief therapists and provide an opportunity for participants to explore the impact that the loss has had and continues to have on their lives. Groups available include such topics as these:

    • Parent Loss Group

    Bereaved Parent Support Group

    An opportunity for parents to meet with, and receive support from, other parents who know and appreciate the intense grief that comes when a child dies. Designed for parents who have experienced the death of a child from infancy through approximately age 21. 
    When: Second Thursday of the month, 5:30-7 p.m.
    Where: alternates between Children's Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses: Oct. 11 Mpls, Nov. 8 St. Paul. Children's Minnesota St. Paul Campus, Garden View Tower, Room 1053/1054; Children's Minnesota Minneapolis Campus, Children's Specialty Center, Room 506

    SIDS Parent Support Group: for Sudden Infant Death of any cause

    This group is for parents whose infants have died unexpectedly. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday evenings from 6:30–8 p.m. at Children's Hospital, 2525 Chicago Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55404. Contact 612-813-6285 or kathleen.fernbach@childrensmn.org. Please call ahead.

    Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group

    For parents who have experienced a perinatal loss. This group meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month on the St. Paul campus. Registration is required; however, there is no fee. Contact 651-241-6206 for more information.  

    Spirituality and Grief for Bereaved Parents/Guardians

    Explore how spirituality may impact an individual's grief. Special attention will be given to describing spirituality and the ways in which it can be a resource amidst grief.

    Bereavement Group

    Compassionate support from others is an essential component of the journey of grief. Feeling lost, lonely, bereft after the death of a loved one is a common experience, though no two experiences of grief are the same. This group offers a designated time and place for people who are coping with the death of a loved one, whether recently or long ago. Sponsored by area faith communities and Saint Anthony Park Area Seniors.
