    Using low-sodium tomato sauce and naturally salt-free herbs in this recipe makes it a great option for those watching their salt (sodium) intake.

    Ingredients

    nonstick cooking spray
    1 pound 93% lean ground beef
    4 green bell peppers, diced
    1 medium onion, diced
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tablespoon dried basil
    1 tablespoon dried oregano
    1 teaspoon dried thyme
    1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    1 29-ounce can no-salt-added tomato sauce
    2 cups cooked brown rice

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray a 9-by-13-inch pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
    2. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon or heat-safe spatula. Drain off extra fat. Add peppers, onion, garlic, basil, oregano, thyme and black pepper. Cook until vegetables have softened.
    3. Add tomato sauce and rice. Stir. Pour mixture into prepared pan and bake uncovered for 18 to 20 minutes.
    4. Allow to cool slightly and serve warm.
