Baked cinnamon nut apples

Walnuts are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids for a healthy heart!

Ingredients

nonstick cooking spray
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
4 medium apples, cut in half

Directions

  1. Spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together brown sugar and butter. Add cinnamon and nuts. Mix well. Set aside.
  3. Scoop out the core of each apple half by using a spoon to dig around it. Continue scooping until you have a well big enough to hold the filling.
  4. Place apple halves in prepared baking dish. Fill each apple well with equal amounts of filling.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until done to your liking.
  6. Serve warm.
