Russian tea Heart Smart Gluten Free Low Sodium

Feeling a little stuffy? This warm tea will loosen mucus in your sinuses and it contains antioxidants that may even help to shorten your cold too!

    Ingredients

    1 small muslin drawstring bag
    2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
    1 tablespoon lemon zest
    6 cups water
    5 teabags black tea
    1 cup orange juice
    1/4 cup honey

    Directions

    1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a small muslin drawstring bag. (You can also use several layers of cheesecloth cut into a square and tied with a string.)
    2. In a medium saucepan, bring water and spice bag (made in step 1) to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add black teabags. Cover and allow to steep (soak) for 5 minutes. Then remove the spice and tea bags.
    3. In a small saucepan, heat orange juice and honey over medium heat until liquid is warm and honey has dissolved. Add juice and honey mixture to the tea.
    4. Reheat over medium heat, being careful not to bring to a boil. Enjoy warm.
