Wheelchair basketball

  • The Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute wheelchair basketball programs are nationally renowned for having developed Collegiate, U.S. National Team and Paralympic athletes. Our teams have won several National Wheelchair Basketball Association Championships, and many of our athletes have been awarded collegiate wheelchair basketball scholarships.

The sport of wheelchair basketball is for anyone with a permanent lower extremity disability, including but not limited to, amputee, spinal cord injury, spina bifida, cerebral palsy and limb length difference.

The goals of the wheelchair basketball program are to promote teamwork, competition, sportsmanship and recreation. Teams are open to both male and female players ages 5 and older with a lower extremity disability. Placement on a youth or adult team will be determined by age and skill level.

Courage Kenny offers developmental team, prep, JV, Varsity and Adult level wheelchair basketball teams. Each team requires different amounts of travel commitments. If you are not sure which team to register for, please contact the program coordinator directly.

Season length is September - April, but it is never too late to join the program! To join after the season starts; please call to inquire.

PLEASE NOTE: No participant will be turned away due to financial hardships. Cost sharing and scholarships are available. Contact the program coordinator for more information.
