    Vocational Services at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute helps people prepare to live more independently in the community through finding competitive employment.

    Every job seeker has unique abilities and interests. Our vocational experts will assist you to develop an individual vocational plan through vocational assessments and employment services.


    In 2017, 212 people participated in Vocational Services.

    • 58% percent were female; 42% were male. 
    • 100% spoke English as their primary language

    In 2017, Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute’s Vocational Services served 212 people in one or more of our services: Evaluation, Job Placement and Extended Employment. 

    For people who found a job through Vocational Services, the average starting salary was $12.17 per hour. Through Extended Employment, clients had an average wage of $18.35 per hour and the average length of job retention was 2.81 years. Average length of job retention is likely higher but we are not able to track clients after they leave this service. Extended Employment clients worked an average of 20.66 hours per week, with a six-month or longer job retention rate of 89%, and had a job retention rate of 82% while working with Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.

    Additional program accomplishments

    • Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute’s Scholarship for People with Disabilities was awarded to 15 post-secondary students.
    • Vocational Services received a continuing three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) with very positive comments.
    • Presentations were given to companies in the metro area on topics of Entering the Workforce with a Disability and Assistive Technology.
