Properly treated sleep disorders improve the quality of life for the patient and their family. Buffalo Hospital's Sleep Center is fully-equipped to offer this type of assistance.
At Buffalo Hospital's state-of-the-art Sleep Center patients receive comprehensive clinical evaluations and treatments for a variety of sleep disorders including sleep apnea and narcolepsy.
Our staff includes a board-certified sleep doctor and registered sleep technologists.
All sleep studies performed at the Sleep Center are conducted in a comfortable, private bedroom-like setting especially equipped to allow for recording and assessing sleep. For your comfort, we have queen-size beds, satellite television and wireless internet access. Before you leave in the morning, you are welcome to enjoy a shower and continental breakfast.
A sleep study (polysonogram) provides important information about whether your sleep is frequently interrupted, preventing you from getting the rest your body needs.
Sleep studies at the Buffalo Hospital Sleep Center are performed four nights a week. If your study shows that you require a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine, you may go home with it the next morning.
Most insurance companies provide coverage for the cost of the study, but you should check with your insurance provider to be sure.
Pediatric sleep studies are performed in a specially decorated pediatric room. Parents are welcome to stay overnight with their child. Personalized tours and demonstrations help children relax and prepare for their study.
You may need a referral from your primary care doctor for a sleep consultation or study, depending on your insurance. To be sure, call the toll-free number on the back of your insurance card.
