Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute – Owatonna is offering a free program designed to help older adults manage falls and increase activity levels.
“A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls” includes eight, two-hour sessions for a small group led by a trained facilitator. This class is especially helpful for those concerned about falls, interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength, who’ve fallen in the past or who’ve restricted activities because of falling concerns.
Participants will learn to:
• view falls as controllable,
• set goals for increasing activity,
• make changes to reduce fall risks at home,
• exercise to increase strength and balance.
Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday each week for four weeks, beginning April 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at Owatonna Hospital, 2250 NW 26th Street in Owatonna, in Vision Conference Room 1489.
Instructors include: Heather Lenz, physical therapist, Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute – Owatonna and Sarah Shepherd, program director, Juniper.
