New Ulm, Minnesota
New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) was recently
named on two lists of top hospitals nationwide for patient experience and patient
safety, according to Healthgrades, a U.S. company that tracks information about
physicians, hospitals and healthcare providers.
This puts NUMC in the top 15
percent of hospitals nationwide with the 2016 Outstanding Patient Experience
Award and in the top 10 percent of hospitals with the 2016 Patient Safety
The Patient Safety
Excellence Award recognizes hospitals that have the lowest occurrences of 14
preventable patient safety events.
The Healthgrades Outstanding
Patient Experience Award recognizes hospitals that provide an overall
outstanding patient experience. Healthgrades evaluates patient experience
performance by scoring 10 patient experience measures, using data collected
from the 32-question survey of the hospital’s own patients. The survey is required
by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for all hospitals in the

This is the third year in a row that NUMC has
been recognized with Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award. NUMC was
also recognized with the Outstanding Patient Experience Award in 2014.
