Allina Health video wins prestigious international Telly Award

MINNEAPOLIS 07/21/2016

Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute’s "Making Lives Work" was intended to be inspirational, educational and practical. Now, the video series featuring stroke survivors is an award winner. It has won a 2016 Bronze Telly Award.

“When a stroke occurs, your life is really turned upside down, and it’s difficult to pull yourself up by the boot straps and get going with the work that has to be done, because there is  a lot of shock and grief,” said Diane Chappuis, MD, medical director, Stroke Rehabilitation, Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.

“We prepared the video series so people can understand the stroke recovery process and take an active part. It’s kind of like a retirement account. If you put a lot into it up front, you’re going to get a lot in return, because the first several months after the stroke the brain has the biggest ability to regenerate, rewire itself and get the best outcome down the line,” Chappuis said.

Allina Health Media Services and Gail Hudson Media produced the “Making Lives Work” video series, which can be viewed at http://www.allinahealth.org/Courage-Kenny-Rehabilitation-Institute/Programs-and-services/Stroke-rehabilitation/Stroke-support/

The “Making Lives Work” entry was one of 13,000 from 50 states and five continents. The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring the finest film and video productions; groundbreaking web commercials, videos and films; and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs.
