The Family Resource Center St. Croix Valley has received a $1,000 boost to its Reach for the Stars fundraising event.

River Falls Area Hospital, part of Allina Health, pledged to renew its sponsorship of the gala event, which raises cash to cover the operating expenses of the vital community resource.

Staff from the Family Resource Center make personal visits to the parents of newborns in hospitals across western Wisconsin, offering support and advice, as well as ongoing offerings of home visits, young parent program and Baby & Me sessions at River Falls Area Hospital.

"We see the difference that Family Resource Center staff make in the lives of our new moms and dads," said River Falls Area Hospital Birth Center manager Julie McGary. "The Baby & Me classes are very well attended. They offer families valuable information and it's a great way to connect with other parents at a similar stage."

Reach for the Stars: New Orleans Jazz will be held at the R&D Catering Banquet Facility in New Richmond on Sunday, April 19, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.frcscv.org.
