River Falls Area Hospital donates $1,000 to support Pierce County food shelves

A $1,000 donation will help a little food go a long way with families in Pierce County.

River Falls Area Hospital, part of Allina Health, presented a check to the Hunger Prevention Council Pierce County on Jan. 23 to help stock food pantries across the county.

The Hunger Prevention Council Pierce County is based in Ellsworth and coordinates and supports all of the Pierce County food pantries, including those in Ellsworth, River Falls, Spring Valley and Prescott.

Last year, food pantries in Pierce County distributed 689,583 pounds of food through a total of 9,592 client visits.
