Eric Fenstad, MD, MSc, a general cardiologist has joined Minneapolis Heart Institute® and will see patients at the Minneapolis Heart Institute® clinics in Baxter, Crosby and Aitkin.
Fenstad is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. His professional interests include pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, pericardial diseases and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Outside of the clinic he enjoys playing sports with his four kids, running with his wife, golfing and fishing.
"Having grown up in North Dakota and educated in central Minnesota, I understand and relate to patients in this geographic area," said Fenstad. "I am proud to be part of a team that makes specialized cardiovascular care accessible to people in the Brainerd Lakes region."
He received his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences – Grand Forks and completed his internship, residency and fellowship at Mayo Clinic. He has published 15 peer-reviewed manuscripts, three book chapters, and 33 abstracts. In addition, he is the author of the largest study of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension, which looked at pericardial effusions and detailed the safety of echo-guided pericardiocentesis.
