Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute to host Wheelchair Rugby tournament

MINNEAPOLIS 01/06/2015

Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, part of Allina Health, is proud to host the 2015 US Quad Rugby Association's (USQRA) Heartland Sectional, March 6 to 8 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul. The sectional is part of the Let's Play Hockey Expo weekend, featuring the Minnesota State High School League Boys Hockey Tournament.

Quad (wheelchair) rugby is a simple, full contact sport with complex strategies for playing both offense and defense. It is played with a volleyball on a basketball-size court.

Six to eight teams from the Heartland region, including the Minnesota Steelheads, will be participating in the sectionals. The Steelheads include 2012 Paralympian Chuck Aoki and Jeromy Brown from the 2014 World Championship team. The tournament is free and open to the public.

Other event sponsors include Let's Play Hockey, Explore Minnesota, and the St. Paul Convention and Visitor's Bureaus and Discover St. Louis Park. Watch for more information to come in February, including a complete schedule and teams expected to participate.
