Buffalo Hospital, a part of Allina Health, to be the first host of the Walk with a Doc program in Minnesota

BUFFALO, Minn. 04/18/2014

On Saturday, April 19, Renae Dorrity, M.D., Family Medicine, will lead Minnesota's first Walk with a Doc event. Walk with a Doc will be held monthly on the third Saturday of the month.

The program will begin at Sturges Park at 10 a.m. with a five-minute educational session on a health topic, followed by a walk along the lake for 30 to 45 minutes. This gives the walkers time to ask questions and make new friends.

Participating in Walk with a Doc is free and open to the community. New topics will be covered each month along with a different physician or expert lead:

  • April 19: Why Walk with Renae Dorrity, M.D.
  • May 17: Nutrition 101 with Annette Fideldy, R.D.
  • June 21: But Exercise Hurts!! How to Avoid, Minimize, and Treat Delayed Muscle Soreness with Glenn Nemec, M.D.
  • July 19: Dehydration and Summer Safety with D. Brent Simons, M.D.
  • August 16: Apps and Technology in Diabetes Care with Anne-Marie Lee, M.D.
  • September 20: Healthy Living for Prevention of Gynecologic Disease with Krista Honsey, M.D.
  • October 18: Joint Health with Dana Harms, M.D.

Walking is a low-impact activity that allows people to set their own pace. Buffalo Hospital is proud to bring Walk with a Doc to Minnesota as it provides an opportunity to our community members to spend some time outdoors and get moving with a group of like-minded individuals who are interested in increasing their activity and improving their health.
