A day of outdoor sportsman activities to raise money for children with life-threatening illnesses and life-altering disabilities scored a bullseye with a $500 donation from Allina Health.
Members of the River Falls Area Hospital's Caring and Recognition Team voted to sponsor the annual Shot for Hope event, which is held Saturday, August 2 in Hudson, Wis., for families across Pierce and St. Croix counties.
The Shot for Hope event was inspired by founders Eric and Missy Steingraber's daughter, Cali, who loves hunting with her parents despite being dependent on her wheelchair for everyday activities while living with cerebral palsy.
This is the third year the event has been held. It features a 3D archery shoot, round of sporting clays and family-oriented outdoor activities. The organization says that money raised by the event gives children who may face challenges when considering outdoors activities the chance to go on the hunt of their dreams.
"Being able to make these kids' wish come true is just another way to say, 'You're no different than anyone else and you CAN make your dream come true,'" said Eric Steingraber. "Success of our event is measured by the smiles on the faces of the people in attendance."
