Owatonna Hospital collecting bike donations for Free Bikes 4 Kidz

OWATONNA, Minn. 10/03/2013

Allina Health is teaming up Free Bikes 4 Kidz for the third year in a row to again collect donated bicycles for kids in need throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Kids will also receive free bicycle helmets and concussion prevention information when the donated bikes are distributed later this fall.

People in the Owatonna area with gently used or new bikes to donate can bring them to Owatonna Hospital at 2250 NW 26th Street on October 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Allina Health and community volunteers will be at 50 Allina Health locations on October 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accept donations of gently used or new bikes. For a complete list of other collection sites, go to allinahealth.org.

Last year Allina Health and Free Bikes 4 Kidz collected more than 5,000 bikes. They were refurbished and redistributed in December, just in time for the holidays. This year Free Bikes 4 Kidz is seeking volunteers to again help clean and prepare the donated bike for the December 2013 distribution.
