Understanding the signs, symptoms and risk factors for breast cancer is important to overall breast health awareness. Mammography and clinical breast examination are the basic screening tools for early detection of breast cancer. In addition, women may also choose to do breast self-examination as another tool. Ultrasound, MRI and image-guided biopsies may also play a role in detecting and evaluating a wide range of breast conditions.
If you have a diagnosis of breast cancer, an individualized plan will be developed between you and your physician. After a detailed evaluation of your medical concern and a discussion of your personal issues and preferences, the team made up of your physician, the clinic nurses and a cancer care coordinator will recommend treatment options.
