Abbott Northwestern is one of the few hospitals to offer short-term, behavioral health treatment as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization.
The partial hospital program is for patients who have adequate support at home or in their community for them to return to a safe environment each evening.
The partial hospital program provides therapeutic services five days a week, during the day. The program provides structured services, including group and family therapy. Patients return home in the evenings and on weekends.
Abbott Northwestern Hospital's adolescent partial hospitalization program for school-aged adolescents, ages 12 to 18, moved from the hospital campus in Minneapolis to Abbott Northwestern - WestHealth in Plymouth.
Remaining on the Minneapolis campus are the partial hospitalization programs for adults and children, which helps kids, ages 5 to 12.
