It's time to get ready for 2024 Benefits Enrollment!

Here's what you need to know:

  • Your medical plan benefits do not roll over, so you must take action! You must enroll during 2024 Benefits Enrollment to elect any of our new and improved medical plan offerings. If you do not enroll, you will lose coverage on Jan. 1, 2024.

  • All plan options and costs will be available in Workday, Nov. 1-15. For 2024, we’ve been able to preserve our benefits while keeping the cost of medical coverage below the average increase for Minnesota companies. See where to find your medical premiums.

  • We’re introducing a new Premier Health Savings Plan for significant member savings! This exciting high deductible plan option features:
    • excellent benefits and low premiums by using the Allina Elevate Network, limited to Allina Health providers for all medical care, with the exception of urgent and Emergency Department care
    • a tax-free contribution from Allina Health of $600 for individual coverage and $1,200 for all other coverage levels to your Health Savings Account in late January
    • a generous vision eyewear benefit at Allina Health Eye Clinics of 100% coverage up to $250 for glasses or contacts every calendar year per member.

  • For employees who follow non-contract benefits, we’re also introducing a spousal surcharge on the Allina First Plan and the Select Health Savings Plan to help control costs. Under either of these plans, a $76.92-per-paycheck surcharge will be applied on a pre-tax basis if you decide to cover a spouse who has the option to elect medical coverage through their own employer (outside of Allina Health). Even if you are not covering a spouse, you'll be required to complete a spousal attestation when you enroll in the Allina First Plan or Select Health Savings Plan.
    • Review common questions about the spousal surcharge to learn more.
    • Remember, the spousal surcharge does not apply to the Elevate Plan or the new Premier Health Savings Plan. Consider enrolling in these plans to save money and access excellent care within the Allina Elevate Network.

  • Plus, there are a few other changes to know about for 2024:
    • A new vision eyewear benefit is available under two of our medical plans. Get 100% coverage up to $250 for glasses or contacts every calendar year per member at Allina Health Eye Clinics with either the Allina Elevate Plan or the Premier Health Savings Plan.
    • Supplemental life insurance is increasing. You can now elect up to eight times your annual salary if you choose to enroll in supplemental life insurance, plus a special opportunity to increase by two coverage levels without health questions.
    • Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions for our high deductible medical plans are changing. The HSA contribution from Allina Health is no longer offered as part of the Select Health Savings Plan and is only available through the new Premier Health Savings Plan.
    • The Basic Health Savings Plan will no longer be offered.
  • With so much to consider, it’s a great time to tap into these tools for decision-making support:
    • The ALEX plan comparison tool (or for MNA-represented employees) makes it easy to identify the best medical plan for you in 2024 – plus learn more about your dental, vision and Employee Assistance Program benefits. Note: ALEX is not intended for SEIU-represented employees.
    • The Securian Financial life insurance decision tool is also available to help you decide how much life insurance you need next year.
