It's time for 2023 Benefits Enrollment:
Tuesday, Nov. 1, through Tuesday, Nov. 15

Here's what's new

  • Your 2023 plan options and costs will be available in Workday, Nov. 1-15: As one of the state’s largest employers, we’re proud to have kept non-contract employee contributions toward the cost of medical coverage flat over the past several years. For 2023, we’ve been able to preserve and enhance our benefits while keeping rates below the average increase for Minnesota companies.

  • The Select Health Saving Plan deductible is changing. We’re adjusting our Select Health Savings Plan to meet the new high-deductible plan minimums required by the IRS in 2023: $1,500 if you have individual coverage, or $3,000 for all other coverage levels.

  • Voluntary benefits do not roll over, so you must take action! Voluntary benefits are no longer offered through Mercer, so your 2022 elections will not roll over. You must enroll during 2023 Benefits Enrollment to elect any of our new and improved voluntary benefits offered in 2023 – including a valuable lump sum payout for planned hospital stays and much more.

  • Look for enhancements to Paid Caregiver Leave and Short-Term Disability starting in 2023. For employees who follow non-contract benefits, Paid Caregiver Leave is increasing to 100% of eligible pay, and our enhanced Short-Term Disability benefit will provide 100% of eligible pay for up to eight weeks of time off, with a reduced waiting period of seven days.

  • Plus, meet two new additions to the medical plans: We’re adding a full treatment cycle to our infertility benefits with Progeny (included under all plans with the exception of the SEIU-represented employee ALT plan) and also introducing new coverage for cooling caps and wigs during cancer treatment.

  • What’s new with you? Tap into the ALEX plan comparison tool for non-contract employees or for MNA-represented employees to identify the best health plan for you this year, plus use the Securian Financial life insurance decision tool to decide how much life insurance you need. Note: ALEX is not intended for SEIU-represented employees.

  • Don’t forget to explore PTO purchase! Ahead of the 220-hour maximum PTO carryover limit going into effect at the end of 2022, eligible employees once again have the option to buy up to 40 hours of Paid Time Off during 2023 Benefits Enrollment. Learn more.

    • If you enroll in a Health Care FSA or Limited Purpose FSA, up to $570 of any remaining 2022 balance will carry over. Note: Funds are not available until April 1, 2023.
  3. If you enroll in the Select Health Savings or Basic Health Savings medical plan, decide if you want to make pre-tax contributions to your Health Savings Account to use for qualified health care expenses and for retirement after age 65.
