Get to know your benefit choices for 2021

Please refer to MyAllina for more information about your 2021 benefit options and costs. All of your plan options will be presented to you during Benefits Enrollment on MyAllina. Here’s what to keep in mind as you get ready:

  • Mark your calendar: Benefits Enrollment is Friday, Nov. 6, through Friday, Nov. 20.
  • Anything new with you? Remember, the best plan for you may differ from year to year, based on changes to your health coverage needs or the number of people you enroll.
  • Good news: All current health plans will be offered again in 2021! We continue to reinvest in these plans to keep your rates competitive. Learn more by viewing the plan comparison chart.
  • Still thinking about the Allina Elevate Plan? Check it out! Launched in 2020, this exciting “narrow network” health plan option through Allina Health | Aetna is designed to lower your costs for the same great care by offering access to smaller selection of primarily Allina Health providers.
  • Tap into the ALEX plan comparison tool. ALEX can help estimate how much you'll spend out-of-pocket on care before determining which plan is the best financial fit.

Review what's changing for physicians in 2021

  • Physician Supplemental Plan Change: Allina Health has been able to provide this above-market differentiator for our benefits-eligible physicians. Unfortunately, this is a differentiator our organization can no longer afford, and we have had to make the difficult decision to eliminate the plan for employed and new hire physicians, effective Jan. 1, 2021. This will not impact the contributions to the Plan for calendar year 2020, which will occur in February 2021. You will still receive distributions from the 2019 and 2020 contributions through 2023. View the Physician Supplemental Plan Q&A for additional information. If you have specific questions about the changes to the Physician Supplemental Plan, please reach out to the Physician Compensation & Benefits Team at mybenefits@allina.com.
  • 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan Match from Allina Health: Effective Jan. 1, 2021, the 401(k) Matching Contribution feature will be reinstated. Plus, Allina Health will still continue to invest in you by making the annual contribution to eligible employees’ 401(k) Retirement Savings Accounts for 2020. Watch for your balance to grow in February 2021!
  • Continuing Medical Education Allowance and Reimbursement: Effective Jan. 1, 2021, the Continuing Medical Education Allowance and Reimbursement will be reinstated. Travel restrictions into 2021 may continue to apply.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Effective Jan. 1, 2021, the Tuition Reimbursement program will be reinstated. Annual allowance amounts will be provided at the same levels as before, plus a few updates:
    • Tuition reimbursement dollars will only be available in the form of reimbursement; advancements will no longer be available.
    • Your official transcript(s) will be required for tuition reimbursement.

Your enrollment checklist

Visit MyAllina to enroll in your 2021 benefits by midnight on Friday, Nov. 20:

  • Review your medical, dental and life insurance options.
  • Determine if you want to set aside tax-free dollars ($100 minimum) in a Flexible Spending Account (Health Care, Limited Purpose Health Care or Dependent Care). Your 2020 elections will not roll over to 2021.
  • If you make an election to your Allina Health 2021 Health Care or Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account, up to $550 of your remaining 2020 balance will roll over. Note: funds are not available until April 1, 2021.
  • If you enroll in the Select or Basic plan, decide if you want to make pre-tax contributions to your Health Savings Account to use for qualified health care expenses and for retirement after age 65.
  • Select More Voluntary Benefits on MyAllina to review the benefits offered through this program.
  • Complete enrollment and print your confirmation statement. Enrollment is only completed if you see the smiley face appear after you click submit.
