Golf Classic

Mark your calendars for the 2013 event on Monday, July 22.

The 2012 Golf Classic on Monday, July 9 at North Oaks Golf Club raised a record-breaking $70,000 for the Cancer Patient Emergency Fund of Mercy and Unity Hospitals. The tournament sold out for the second year in a row with 128 golfers participating.




Women's Golf Day: Par and Pamper

The 2013 women’s golf event will be held on September 9 at the Majestic Oaks Golf Club. The event will be hosted by Gould's Diamonds and Jewelry.



Pheasant Hunt

The Pheasant Hunt takes place in the fall. This past year’s event was held at the Marsh Lake Hunting Club in Chaska over two days in October. 70 hunters participated and raised over $15,000 for the Cancer Patient Emergency Fund. Check back next summer for information on the 2013 event.

The 2013 Crystal Ball proceeds support the Birth Centers at Mercy and Unity hospitals. Watch the video to hear two families share their unique birth experiences and wishes for other families who will be delivering at Mercy and Unity hospitals.

The 2013 Crystal Ball was a smashing success and raised more than $290,000 for the birth centers at Mercy and Unity hospitals. In addition, Fund-a-Need raised $30,000 for community health initiatives including high school health screenings.

The sold-out event was a truly memorable evening filled with lively jazz, an expansive silent auction and elegant dining all with the greater purpose of supporting the health care needs of mothers and babies in the northwest metro communities.

2012 Crystal Ball

The 2012 Crystal Ball on April 21 at the Northland Inn raised more than $288,000. This included more than $43,000 for Fund-a-Need, the cancer patient emergency fund, as well as funds supporting these services:

  • Cardiology and cardiovascular surgery at Mercy Hospital
  • Acute inpatient rehabilitation unit at Unity Hospital

Twinkling Angels Golf Tournament

The Twinkling Angels Fund honors the short lives of Madison and Parker Thurner. Every year, the Thurner family hosts a golf tournament to raise money for the fund, and remember their children, who died in 2002.

Funds are distributed through the Mercy & Unity Hospitals Foundation and help support the people of Anoka County and surrounding communities. The hope is to provide comfort to children who are hospitalized and to families dealing with unfortunate circumstances, especially the loss of a child.

The 2012 golf tournament took place on May 24 at Majestic Oaks,in Ham Lake, Minnesota.

The 2011 golf tournament raised over $34,000. In past years, proceeds have helped families after the loss of a child, send kids to burn camp and provided funds for Sister Kenny Kids.

3M Championship

Every year the senior golf competition and week-long activities raise approximately $1.3 million for Abbott Northwestern, United, Mercy and Unity hospitals. At Mercy and Unity, a portion of the proceeds benefit programs and services at both hospitals. This includes the expansion and renovation of emergency departments and comprehensive cancer care programs at both hospitals.

Lynnda Laubach Breast Cancer Awareness Ride

The annual motorcycle ride held each September begins at Zylstra Harley-Davidson in Elk River and concludes with a hog roast, music, raffles and live auction. The Grand Prize for the raffle each year is a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. This past year 160 riders took to the road and raised over $60,000.

All funds raised support individuals battling breast cancer. The funds are distributed through the cancer resource centers at Mercy and Unity Hospitals and directly support breast cancer patients and survivors (although individuals do not need to receive treatment at these hospitals to be considered).
