The Family Birth Center at Unity Hospital is proud of our hospital-coordinated doula program. If you are considering a personal birth assistant, we encourage you to learn more about doulas who regularly assist at Unity and serve on our on-call doula team. Feel free to contact a doula directly to learn more about their individual services and pricing.

Although we have strong relationships with the doulas listed below, all doulas are welcome at Unity Hospital as part of your birth support team.

I am a mother of four and have worked on labor and delivery at Unity Hospital for 17 years. Being a mother myself, I understand firsthand the joys and the importance of the child birthing experience, which has led me to become a doula. I am a certified DONA doula and I find great satisfaction and reward in helping mothers though the childbirth experience. I believe that though all of my personal and professional experiences, I am able to provide the best care for the mother, while also being able to inform her of different birthing and relaxation techniques. I am certified in CPR, yoga and childbirth education.

Greetings to birthing families! I was originally trained as an Occupational Therapist, and worked for 25+ years in 3 local hospitals. In that part of my career, I helped people make challenging transitions in their lives. Looking for a change and realizing that birth was a passion of mine, I moved into doula work in 1998. I received my doula training and certification from the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA). I am currently a member of ICEA, Doulas of North America (DONA), and The Minnesota Childbirth Collective. I have two young adult children: a daughter and a son, and two incredible grandchildren. They may be the reason I’m sometimes referred to affectionately as a “grandma doula.” I also have a wonderfully supportive husband of 31+ years, without whom I could not do this important work.

I have attended births on a regular basis since 1999. I have experience with single and multiple (twins) births, caesarian births and vaginal births after caesarian. My strong belief is that women and their families deserve to be respected, honored, well-supported and cared for around the time of their births. I feel very fortunate to be able to work with young families during such an important time in their lives.

I have been a doula certified through DONA since 2002 and I love it. I especially like being on the Unity doula team. I have met so many different and wonderful people and love being part of their birth experience. The staff at Unity is caring, and great to work with. I am married and have 3 of my own children. In my free time I love to travel and garden.

I have been a certified doula since 1998 and have been working with the Unity Doula program from its beginning. I am married with four children. Over the years I have been privileged to attend the births of more than 1,200 families.

My experiences as a doula and a mother of four have taught me that women possess the strength, courage and fortitude to bring new life into this world. Women that are provided with continuous physical, emotional and informational support believe in their ability to give birth and are empowered. I believe that giving birth is truly a life-changing event, and consider it an honor to be a part of this process.
