Service to Humanity Gala, September 28, 2013

The Service to Humanity Gala is one of the largest fundraising event in the Twin Cities. In the metro-area funding events ranked by gross revenue, the Gala is ranked seventh of 25. Since 2003, more than $11 million has been raised to benefit programs and services of United Hospital.

During the Service to Humanity Gala, we present the Service to Humanity Award to both a community member and a physician associated with United Hospital who have demonstrated selfless dedication and exemplary leadership in improving the health and welfare of St. Paul residents and the communities we serve.

The 2012 Service to Humanity Gala raised $1.52 million to benefit the Elaine S. Larson Surgical Center Campaign.The 2012 honorees were Gene and Bonnie Nugent and Mary Elizabeth Dunn, MD.

2013 Honoreees

Physician Honoree: Omar Sanan, MD. Dr. Sanan is a general surgeon at Aspen Medical Group practicing in the east metro area. He joined the United Hospital medical staff in 1993 and is currently medical director of surgery. A specialist in breast cancer surgery, Dr. Sanan is respected for providing exceptional care with passion for communication and teamowrk.

Community Honorees: John and Linda Schroepfer. John and Linda are longtime friends and supporters of United Hospital Foundation. They chaired 2011's Service to Humanity Gala. Linda has volunteered as a coordinator for the silent auction for years, including this year. John is president of NEI Electric, and Linda is a director at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview.

United Hospital Golf Classic, July 29, 2013-White Bear Yacht Club

Established over 20 years ago, the United Hospital Golf Classic has a long tradition of being an exceptional amateur golf event. Over $2 million has been raised, with proceeds benefiting the Peter J. King Family Health Center, Nasseff Neuroscience Center, Breast Center, Lipschultz Guest Apartments, Nasseff Heart Center, and Peter J. King Emergency Care Center at United Hospital and Elaine S. Larson Surgical Center.

Proceeds from this year's golf tournament benefit the Elaine S. Larson Surgical Center. United Hospital is committed to retaining its hallmark reputation for quality patient care and overall excellence. Ongoing investments will continue to increase efficiencies, advance technologies and improve services for patients and their families.

United Hospital Foundation was named 11 out of 25 Top Charity Golf Tournaments in the March 4, 2011 issue of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

The 2012 tournament raised $171,000 for the Operating Rooms expansion at United Hospital. Congratulations to the 2012 winning team from Thyssen Krupp Elevator: John Best, Mark Stangret, Rick Horneck and Joe Franczak.

3M Championship Senior PGA Tournament

The 2013 3M Senior PGA Championship is being held at the Tournament Players Club in Blaine July 29 - August 4.

The 2012 tournament netted more than $1.3 million. Thank you to 3M, title sponsor, and all the sponsors, volunteers and spectators who made this event a success. Bernard Langer was the winner of the 2012 tournament.
