Patient story

Gary Brown

Spine Rehabilitation patient learns that exercising can help prevent back pain

For nearly 30 years, Gary Brown suffered from unpredictable, recurrent flare-ups of pain in his lower back. But when he was unable to work this past spring due to a particularly severe flare-up, he finally said "enough" and asked his physician for help. His physician then referred Brown to Courage Kenny Spine Rehabilitation (then Sister Kenny Spine Center)—Coon Rapids.

Treatment for mind and body

We believe the best treatment approach for back and neck pain is one that is balanced and holistic.

  • Complementary therapies, often drawn from other medical traditions, emphasize caring for the whole person and focus on healing pain as much as curing pain. Ask your therapist or physician at Courage Kenny Spine Rehabilitation about what options are available. These services may not be covered by your insurance and may require self-payment.
  • Patient education – Courage Kenny Spine Rehabilitation offers lifestyle management education to teach patients how to live with and maintain a healthy neck and back.
