When a patient is diagnosed with diabetes, he or she should schedule a one-on-one session with a diabetes educator. This session takes place at the clinic and lasts about one hour.

During the session, the patient will:

Have the opportunity to talk about the diagnosis.

Ask questions.

Assess educational needs.

Learn about support services offered at the clinic.

Contact your clinic for more information. If you are diagnosed with diabetes, a care coordinator at the clinic will assist you make an appointment with a diabetes educator.
