Cardiac rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation is important for anyone who has had a myocardial infarction (heart attack), angina pectoris (chest pain), coronary artery bypass surgery, valve replacement, coronary angioplasty or other cardiac event.

At River Falls Area Hospital's cardiac rehabilitation department, our goal is to improve every patient's quality of life. Our highly qualified staff will take into consideration each patient's health risks.

A personalized plan is developed to help prevent future cardiac-related problems. Patients then learn how to exercise for their heart.

Our experienced cardiac rehab staff works with each patient and his or her loved ones to achieve these goals:

  • safely increase heart efficiency and physical work capacity
  • reduce risk for recurrence of symptoms
  • cope with lifestyle changes and stress.

Our cardiac rehabilitation program includes an assessment of cardiac function, monitored exercise sessions, individual exercise program, education, counseling and support for both patients and families.

River Falls Area Hospital's cardiac rehab program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The AACVPR certification recognizes outstanding programs that follow best practices in patient care and program management.

Our patients also benefit from our comprehensive team approach to your recovery and care. This team approach includes support from:

  • primary physicians and cardiologists
  • nurses
  • exercise physiologists
  • respiratory therapists
