We understand that being a hospital patient can be a stressful time for patients and family members. Our goal is to provide you with the highest quality medical care and make your stay as comfortable as possible. We encourage you to ask questions of your physicians and our staff members. Tobacco-free campus: In keeping with the Phillips Eye Institute’s goal of promoting health and healing and providing a safe environment for our patients and staff, tobacco usage is not permitted on the campus. The Tobacco-Free Policy includes all parking areas, hospital entrances and the building itself.
Cell phone use:
Cellular phones may be used inside the hospital for your convenience with some restrictions.
When in either the ready/standby or talking mode, cellular telephones transmit signals that may cause electromagnetic interference with medical equipment. Cellular telephones should never be used within three feet of any medical equipment. And all cellular telephones must be completely turned off when in a restricted area.
Wireless high-speed internet access:
Free wi-fi/wireless high-speed internet access is available for patients and visitors in most areas of the hospital, including patient rooms and waiting areas.
Coffee shop: The Bistro serves cappuccino, espresso and
other gourmet beverages, along with soup, sandwiches and pastries.
Communication needs: American sign language and foreign language interpreters
are available with advanced notice. A TTY teletypewriter is also available. Call

Parking
Parking is available in the ramp directly across the street from the Institute on 24th Street and Park Avenue.
Parking costs $3.
The automated attendant accepts cash, credit cards and parking tokens. You can purchase a parking token in the hospital.
Security officers are available to escort you to your vehicle in the parking ramp. Ask a volunteer at the information desk to call Safety and Security for you.

Surgery patients who are unable to obtain transportation to Phillips Eye Institute can take advantage of our van service, which is provided for patients who live within 20 miles.
Transportation arrangements need to be made 48 hours in advance. Patients who live further than 20 miles away may still be able to utilize the service and can ask for details when making an appointment.
Please note we do not provide transportation to patients who are having refractive surgery.
