Speech therapy, also called speech-language pathology, emphasizes the ability to express one's self and to understand others. New Ulm Medical Center's speech therapists treat patients of all ages.

Common problems or conditions:

• aphasia
• stuttering
• articulation and language problems
• swallowing difficulties caused by stroke, head injury, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease
• voice problems.
