Abbott Northwestern and Mercy hospitals, part of Allina Health, rank #1 and #2 in the Twin Cities says U.S. News & World Report
MINNEAPOLIS 07/15/2014--Abbott Northwestern Hospital retained its first place ranking for the Best Hospital in the Twin Cities and second in the state of Minnesota in the U.S. News & World Report's 2014-15 Best Hospital rankings that were released today.
Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minn. ranked second in the metro and third in the state.
Roughly, only three percent of the 4,743 hospitals that are analyzed for the latest Best Hospitals rankings receive a ranking in any the 16 specialties.
Abbott Northwestern received national recognition in four specialty areas: Cardiology and Heart Surgery (#29); Geriatrics (#37); Gynecology (#14), and Orthopedics (#22).
Mercy ranked nationally in Gastroenterology and GI Surgery (#46).
Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minn., also part of Allina Health, was ranked sixth in the metro and eighth in the state.
