Two psychologists join Cambridge Medical Center
CAMBRIDGE, Minn. 12/22/2010--Cambridge Medical Center is pleased to welcome two psychologists to the mental health professional staff: Richard Blackburn, PhD, and Mary (Mimi) Sa, PsyD. Both providers are now seeing patients in the Mental Health Outpatient Clinic.
For more information or to schedule an appointment,
- Richard Blackburn, PhD works with adult patients and has a special interest in the areas of anxiety disorders, addiction, cognitive/personality psychological assessment, gastric bypass pre-surgical assessments, and behavioral treatments for sleep disorders and chronic pain. He is a strong proponent of integrating behavioral health into primary care clinics and was impressed that Cambridge Medical Center takes this approach to patient care.
"Most medical conditions have a behavioral component to them," said Dr. Blackburn. "Many of the doctors and hospital/clinic staff I've talked with have stressed the importance of treating the whole person and expressed the value of behavioral interventions. When I discovered that Cambridge Medical Center was already integrating behavioral health and primary care, I knew that this was a place where patient care and evidence-based best-practices were a priority."
Prior to coming to Cambridge Medical Center, Dr. Blackburn worked at the Community Addiction Recovery Enterprise in Fergus Falls and the Neighborhood Counseling Center in Wadena. He received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Capella University. He grew up in Springfield, Minnesota.
- Mary (Mimi) Sa, PsyD specializes in treating children and adolescents. Her areas of special interest include psychopharmacology, children, and trauma. In addition to seeing patients at Cambridge Medical Center, Dr. Sa will also have office hours at Allina Medical Clinic - North Branch. Dr. Sa received her doctorate of clinical psychology from Argosy University and a master's degree in clinical psychopharmacology from Nova Southeastern University. She has been in private practice in Grand Marais, Minnesota, and at the Indian Health Service in Taos and Mescalero, New Mexico. She is a native of St. Cloud, Minnesota.
