Minneapolis Heart Institute – Baxter pleased with latest Minnesota health scores
BAXTER, Minn. 08/15/2013--Minneapolis Heart Institute® – Baxter ranked number one for cardiology clinics and received the highest composite scores for patient experience overall as noted in results released this week by MN Community Measurement in partnership with the Minnesota Health Department.
Known as the Clinician and Group Surveys – Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CG-CAHPS), the results are from more than 230,000 patient-completed surveys on patient experience of care from 651 clinics.
Minneapolis Health Institute - Baxter scored:
- 79 percent on "getting care when needed" (average: 60 percent)
- 95 percent on "how well providers communicate" (average: 90 percent)
- 96 percent for "courteous and helpful office staff" (average: 92 percent)
- 89 percent for "providers with a most positive rating" (average: 78 percent)
The data is collected as part of Minnesota's Statewide Quality Reporting and Measurement System and is the most comprehensive look at patient experience on a statewide basis in the country. Minnesota's 2008 health reform law set up this system which requires clinics to report their performance on a standard set of quality measures.
"Patients are the reason we are here, and we thank them and our clinic staff for our scores, but we need to continue to strive to improve patient experience," said Timothy Dirks, MD, a cardiologist and one of seven providers at Minneapolis Heart Institute - Baxter.
MDH partners with MN Community Measurement to collect the data, and MN Community Measurement reports results on MNHealthScores.org.
