Allina hospitals Buffalo, Mercy, St. Francis and Unity recognized for patient safety
MINNEAPOLIS 06/29/2009--Four Allina Hospitals & Clinics' hospitals were among 25 that received Minnesota Hospital Association Patient Safety Excellence Awards for the second quarter of 2009.
Two Allina hospitals -- Unity Hospital in Fridley and Buffalo Hospital in Wright County -- have the distinction of achieving awards for all safety measures: "Safe from Falls" to reduce patient falls in the hospital; "Safe Skin" to prevent pressure ulcers (bed sores); "Safe Count" to reduce retained objects in labor and delivery, and "Safe Site" to prevent surgical errors.
In addition, Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids received an award for "Safe Site." St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee was recognized for "Safe Skin."
Minnesota Hospital Association Patient Safety Excellence Awards
Each quarter, participating hospitals measure their progress in implementing the roadmap. Hospitals qualify if they reach the 90 percent benchmark during that timeframe. The current list of award-winning hospitals can be found at www.mnhospitals.org.
