All Allina primary care clinics earn Bridges to Excellence awards

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. 08/01/2011--Allina Hospitals & Clinics announced today that for the first time, every one of Allina's primary care clinics received a Minnesota Bridges to Excellence award.

The 53 clinic locations include:

The award from the Buyers Health Care Action Group relies on publicly reported clinical data to identify clinics that have high quality outcomes for patients with diabetes, vascular disease and depression.

"We are proud to receive this award because it showcases our commitment to excellence in care and transparency," said Bev Reiman, director of Allina Clinic Quality and Patient Care Services, Allina Hospitals & Clinics. "Patients benefit from this program, but all of us benefit by improvements in the health care system."

The Minnesota Bridges to Excellence program was started six years ago to change the health care payment system from one that rewards doctors for the number of services they provide to one that rewards them for the quality of care delivered and outcomes achieved.

The Buyers Healthcare Action Group announced today that 295 clinics will receive $473,000 in rewards.
