Family medicine

A family physician is concerned with the general health needs of people of all ages. Focusing on the primary care of you and your family, he or she can refer you to a specialist or community resources when appropriate.

Family doctors receive training in six broad areas: community medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery.

Pediatrics

When it comes to their health (and many other things), children are not "little adults." They have unique needs.

Our experts are concerned with the emotional, physical and social growth of babies on up to young adults.

• They advise parents on actions needed to prevent health problems.
• They recognize and treat a range of childhood illnesses and injuries.
• They help children and their families deal with advanced or lifelong difficulties.

Ear, nose and throat (ENT, otolaryngology)

Otolaryngologists or head and neck surgeons are doctors who treat conditions affecting the ears, face, jaw, nose, sinuses and throat.

General Surgery

Sometimes a disease, injury or birth defect requires surgery. Surgeons are doctors who are there for you before, during and after an operation.

Psychology

Psychologists help individuals and families work through emotional difficulties through talk therapy. They also evaluate mental health through special assessments.

Ophthalmology (eye care)

Ophthalmologists are doctors who specialize in the medical and surgical care of eyes and in the prevention of eye disease and injury. They provide a full spectrum of care, including routine eye exams, diagnosis and medical treatment of eye disorders and diseases, surgery for and management of eye problems.

Optometry (eye services)

Optometrists diagnose vision problems and eye diseases, prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses, and treat eye disorders and injuries. Although they do not perform eye surgery, they can care for patients before and after surgery.

Plastic surgery

• Cosmetic surgeons reshape normal body structures to improve appearance and self-esteem.
• Reconstructive surgeons correct birth defects, diseases, scars, tumors or other abnormalities that affect how the body looks and works.

Podiatry (foot medicine and surgery)

A podiatrist is a doctor who evaluates and treats foot problems. Care can range from treating foot or ankle injuries to helping people with diabetes avoid common foot-related complications.
