Library Services selects and provides access to knowledge-based resources that meet the clinical, business and research needs of Allina-affiliated providers and employees. Allina physicians and staff can access the full selection of library resources from the AKN Library Services site (network or remote access required). All resources are available on the AKN without a password.
The majority of the resources require Allina network access to use. Accessing Library Services from the Links menu in a remote Excellian session is another option for full access. MD Consult provides customizable access to books, journals, patient information, news, practice guidelines and drug information.

PubMed/MEDLINE
PubMed is the National Library of Medicine’s freely accessible online database of biomedical journal citations and abstracts. Within PubMed, the MEDLINE database is the largest component. Over 5,000 journals are indexed for inclusion in MEDLINE. It is possible to limit searches to core clinical or to nursing journals, articles with specific publication types (such as randomized controlled trials or systematic reviews), or in many other ways.

Micromedex
Micromedex databases include drug and disease information, dosing and therapeutic tools, an IV compatibility calculator, an interaction checker, as well as alternative medicine and toxicology information.

Online Catalog
Library Services has an integrated library catalog for all sites, which includes print holdings and fulltext electronic access for books.
Additional Databases
E-Books produces a searchable list of all electronic full-text books to which Allina has access. Most require network access.
Electronic & Print Journals contains an A-to-Z list of electronic fulltext and print journals to which Allina has access. Most require network access or an ID and password.
ELM (Electronic Library for Minnesota) Through the Minnesota Public Library System, all Minnesota residents who have a public library card can access a wealth of fulltext online resources including The Wall Street Journal, Star Tribune, Harvard Business Review, regional business news and many more.
Direct access is also available for those on the Allina network.
