Introduction
The RN Nursing Student Intern Program offers a unique opportunity for students entering their final year of nursing to apply newly learned clinical skills, theoretical knowledge and interpersonal communication in a supervised clinical setting. Those applicants portraying a strong sense of caring, high GPA, stellar references and a good understanding of the healthcare environment may be selected to participate in Allina's highly regarded RN Nursing Student Intern Program.

Qualifications
This internship is for students who will graduate from an RN nursing degree program with in one year. Out-of-state students may be required to register for the Internship course with a Minnesota school. Minnesota students should take the course through the school they attend.

Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Allina Medical Clinic, Buffalo Hospital, Cambridge Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, New Ulm Medical Center, Owatonna Hospital, River Falls Area Hospital, St. Francis Regional Medical Center, United Hospital, and Unity Hospital.
Program Highlights
This is an unpaid internship. Interns will be scheduled approximately 24 hours per week and will follow the schedule that their preceptor(s) works. Interns may be scheduled rotating shifts (Days and evenings, days and nights) or they may have a schedule that does not rotate (all day shifts (7am-3:30pm), straight evening shifts (3pm-11:30pm) or straight night shifts (11pm-7:30am). If the intern’s preceptor works weekends, they will also be scheduled the weekends that he/she works. Interns will not be scheduled the 4th of July holiday. Interns are expected to participate in the full 8 week program and the hours they are scheduled with their preceptor.

Please note in order for you to be considered for this internship you must complete the two step application process.
Step one:
- Complete and submit the Nurse Intern Application. A professional resume is also required. The resume should include work history, skills and community activities and any experiences you think may be important for Allina Hospitals and Clinics to know, as well as clinical rotations for fall 2011 and spring 2012.
Step Two: You must email nurse recruitment the following documents at nurserecruitment@allina.com
- Copy of unofficial transcript (to date)
- Answer the following question, in a short essay format. Essay should be a minimum of a hundred words in length: How will a Summer Internship with Allina Hospitals & Clinics help you succeed in your professional nursing goals?
- 2 clinical/faculty reference forms: one from a clinical instructor/and one from either a clinical or faculty instructor or supervisor if you have a health-related job. Click here for the Faculty Reference Form.
