Support for patients

Support is a key component in the cancer journey. The Harbor Room is available to anyone affected by cancer. In its attractive and peaceful setting, patients and family can find the support they need both during and after treatment.

Online and printed resources provide the latest information on cancer prevention and screening. Many support groups and classes are offered, including art and yoga. Wigs, hats and prosthetics are also available.

An understanding staff and compassionate team of volunteers are on hand to listen or talk. The room is staffed by trained volunteers and managed by a steering committee of Cambridge Medical Center administrators, chemotherapy nurses, educators, and community members.

Financial aid available for breast cancer patients

The Hope Fund offers emergency financial assistance for people who are actively receiving care for breast cancer. The Hope Fund is a program of the Cambridge Medical Center Foundation and is funded through the Minnesota Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

Harbor Room ownership transferred to Cambridge Medical Center

Since 2005, the Harbor Room has been owned and managed by Community Harbor, an independent community board. On January 1, 2011, Community Harbor transferred ownership of the Harbor Room to Cambridge Medical Center.

"Our cancer care program is growing," said Dennis Doran, president of Cambridge Medical Center. "The services the Harbor Room provides are, and will continue to be, an important component of the cancer care we provide."
