Meet our current pharmacy residents

Ashley E. Feldman, Pharm D
PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Resident

Ashley grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota, a southwest suburb of Minneapolis. She completed her pre-pharmacy coursework and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduation, she completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Ashley's practice interests in cardiology include acute and chronic heart failure, anticoagulation, mechanical circulatory support, acute coronary syndromes, and heart transplantation. Her future career goals include working with a multidisciplinary cardiology team, serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents, and working in a clinical coordinator role at a large, acute care hospital. Outside of pharmacy, Ashley enjoys travel, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Nick Gamble, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Nick grew up in Robbinsdale/New Hope, Minnesota. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology, minor Psychology, at the University of Minnesota – Duluth in 2008. He then relocated to Chicago, Illinois to complete his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Midwestern University in 2013. Nick's practice interests include emergency medicine, infectious disease and cardiology. Nick is excited to explore the many different areas of pharmacy available at Abbott Northwestern during his residency year, and is eager to learn from some of the best preceptors in the Minneapolis area. After residency, he plans to work as a clinical pharmacist in an urban, acute care hospital. Outside of pharmacy, Nick enjoys running, hockey, attending concerts, playing guitar and exploring different recipes in the kitchen.

Emily Herstine, PharmD
PGY2 Infectious Disease Resident

Emily grew up in the southern suburbs of Minneapolis. She completed her pre-pharmacy coursework at University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences in 2008 and her Doctor of Pharmacy at University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy – Twin Cities in 2012. Her practice interests include infectious disease, critical care, transplant, and management. Emily plans to use her residency year to enhance her clinical knowledge and explore the wide range of practice areas that Abbott Northwestern has to offer. She is currently a member of Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP), American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and Phi Delta Chi. After residency, Emily plans to work as a clinical pharmacist in a large, acute care hospital and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents. Outside of pharmacy, Emily enjoys spending time with her friends and family, cooking, reading, being outside and being active.

Becca Lange, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Becca grew up in Stillwater, Minnesota. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts in 2009. She stayed at the Twin Cities campus to complete her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in 2013. Becca's practice interests include cardiology, critical care, and emergency medicine. She is currently a member of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP), and The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). Becca is excited to enhance her clinical skills during her residency year as well as explore the diverse learning opportunities that Abbott Northwestern has to offer. After residency, she plans to work as a clinical pharmacist in a large, acute care hospital and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents. Outside of pharmacy, Becca enjoys going to concerts and yoga classes, cooking, biking and traveling to sunny destinations.

Steve Larson
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Steve grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He completed his Bachelor of Science in biology at the University of Minnesota - Duluth and then transferred to the U of M to earn his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. His current practice interests include infectious disease, critical care, and transplant. He is a member of Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) and American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). Steve is excited for his residency year to enhance his clinical skills in a variety of different areas of pharmacy. Going forward, he plans on working as a clinical pharmacist and being an active preceptor in an acute care hospital. Outside of pharmacy, Steve enjoys playing hockey and golf. He is an avid Minnesota sports fan and in particular enjoys watching the Twins, Wild, and college hockey.

Jon Malepsy, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Jon grew up in Litchfield, Minnesota, a small town about 60 miles west of the metro area. He completed his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, and then stayed for his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. His practice interests include infectious disease, critical care and emergency medicine. During the residency, Jon will focus on developing his clinical skills, working with students, and research. Outside of pharmacy Jon enjoys golf, snowboarding and travel.

Rana (Balsheh) Shouman, Pharm D
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Rana was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and grew up in Blaine, Minnesota. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree with Leadership Emphasis at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities in May 2013. Her professional interests include critical care, infectious disease, medication safety and pharmacy practice management. Rana's goals for the residency year are to strengthen her clinical knowledge in a wide variety of pharmacy practice areas and to further develop her leadership skills. Rana is currently an active member of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) and Minnesota College of Clinical Pharmacy (MCCP), and plans to continue her involvement in local and national professional organizations. After completing her residency, she hopes to practice in an acute care hospital setting and become a preceptor for student pharmacists. Outside of Pharmacy, Rana enjoys dancing Zumba, traveling and learning about cultures and languages. Most importantly, Rana truly values and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
