Meet our current pharmacy residents

Ramy Elshaboury, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Ramy grew up in a northern city in Egypt, where he lived and went to school till graduated from high school. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities majoring in Chemistry. Ramy then earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Ramy’s practice interests include Critical Care, Infectious Diseases and Oncology. He is currently an active member of ASHP, MSHP, ACCP and MCCP. Ramy’s goals for the residency year are to gain clinical competency in his interest areas and to help set the stage for his career. His long term career goal is to practice clinical pharmacy in an acute care setting with the opportunity to directly interact with patients and their care givers. Ramy enjoys playing tennis with his friends; as well as, watching his beloved MN Twins beat the NYY once, if any, a year.

Ann Foede
PGY2 Pharmacy Resident in Infectious Diseases

Ann grew up in Waverly, MN, which is a small town about an hour west of the Twin Cities. She attended the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN where she earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Chemistry in 2006 before moving on to pharmacy school at Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions in Omaha, NE. After graduating in 2010 she moved on to do a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Her current practice interests in Infectious Diseases include Antimicrobial Stewardship and HIV medication management. She is currently a member of APhA, ASHP, MSHP, SDPhA, ACCP, Phi Lambda Sigma, and Kappa Psi. In the future she would like to become an Infectious Diseases clinical specialist at an institution associated with a school of pharmacy, become BCPS certified, precept IPPE and APPE pharmacy students, and possibly teach at a school of pharmacy. Outside of residency Ann likes to travel, read, play and watch tennis, watch movies, and spend time with friends and family.

Kathleen Johnson
PGY1 Pharmacy practice resident

Kathleen grew up in Circle Pines, Minnesota. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology at the University of Minnesota - Duluth and a PharmD at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Within pharmacy her main practice interests are nephrology and critical care. During her residency Kathleen is looking forward to enhancing her clinical practice skills in her areas of interest as well as exploring the diverse areas of practice that Abbott Northwestern has to offer. She is currently a member of MSHP, ASHP, and Kappa Psi. After residency Kathleen hopes to work as a clinical pharmacist in a large, acute care hospital as well as serve as a preceptor for future pharmacists. Outside of pharmacy Kathleen enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, baking, playing softball, and reading.

Matthew Lillyblad
PGY2 Pharmacy Resident in Cardiology

Matt grew up in Circle Pines, a northern suburb of Minneapolis. He completed his pre-pharmacy coursework at University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts in 2006 and his Doctor of Pharmacy at University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy- Twin Cities in 2010. After graduation, Matt completed his PGY1 General Pharmacy Residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in 2011. His current practice interests in cardiology include heart failure, acute coronary syndromes, and preventative medicine. He is currently a member of ASHP, MSHP, and ACCP. Matt’s future goals are to obtain his BCPS with added qualifications in CV and to become pharmacy clinical coordinator/clinical pharmacy specialist in cardiology at a large, acute care hospital. Outside of pharmacy, Matt enjoys being active, playing basketball and golf, and spending time with family and friends.

Chad Peterson, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Chad grew up in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. He completed a BA in Chemistry at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN and a PharmD at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities Campus. His practice interests include psychiatry, infectious disease, critical care and emergency medicine. Chad plans to use his residency year to enhance his clinical knowledge and gain a strong understanding of a pharmacy’s role in a large health system. After completion of his residency, Chad plans to enter into clinical practice in an acute care setting, but he is open to exploring new and unique areas of pharmacy practice. Outside of pharmacy, Chad enjoys skiing, biking, hanging out with friends and playing video games.

Richard Taylor
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Richard grew up in Port Huron, Michigan, which is about an hour northeast of Detroit. He attended Michigan State University where he received his bachelors in biochemistry and molecular biology. For pharmacy school, he went to the other school down the road, the University of Michigan and graduated in 2011. While he attended rival schools, he has no issues determining where his allegiances lie (Go Green!). Richard’s current practice interests include cardiology, geriatrics and administration. He hopes to work in a large acute care hospital for a number of years as a clinical pharmacist and then move into an administrative role later on. When not consumed by all things pharmacy, Richard enjoys going to college football and basketball games, Detroit Tigers games, playing basketball, reading, grilling, and serving as one of the hosts of the Kilted Tailgate.
