Meet our current pharmacy residents

Aileen S. Ahiskali, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

A recent Twin Cities transplant, Aileen grew up in New Jersey and lived in New York City prior to moving to Minnesota. In 2014, she completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in Brooklyn, New York at Long Island University - Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy. Her personal areas of interest are infectious disease, oncology, psychiatry, and emergency medicine. Aileen plans to enhance her clinical and leadership skills throughout this residency year. After PGY1, she hopes to pursue a PGY2 residency to continue her development as a clinical pharmacist. Aileen is currently a 5-year member of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and recently joined Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) and Minnesota College of Clinical Pharmacy (MCCP). Outside of pharmacy, Aileen enjoys exploring her new surroundings in the Twin Cities, playing guitar, and cooking. She is actively preparing for her first ‘Minnesota winter’.

Alexis Bylina, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Alexis grew up in Chicago, Illinois and completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 2014. Alexis's practice interests include critical care, infectious disease, and research. She is currently a member of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and looking forward to becoming more active with the Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) and Minnesota College of Clinical Pharmacy (MCCP). Alexis's enthusiasm led her to Abbott Northwestern where she will build a comprehensive approach to patient care through exposure to different patient populations. In addition to strengthening her clinical skills, Alexis is excited to assist in the implementation of practice changes at a health-system level. She will pursue a second year residency with intent to acquire a clinical pharmacy position which allows her to engage in patient interaction, preceptorship, and research. Outside of pharmacy, Alexis enjoys attending live theater performances, yoga, meeting new people and being in the company of her family and friends.

Laura Halder, PharmD
PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Resident

Laura grew up in Cherokee, a small town in northwest Iowa about four hours from the Twin Cities. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Chemistry at Central College in Pella, Iowa and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa. After graduation, she completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Laura’s practice interests include heart failure, advanced heart failure therapies, acute coronary syndrome, transitions of care, and ambulatory care. Her future career goals include working at a large, acute care health system and being actively involved precepting students and residents. Outside of pharmacy, Laura enjoys traveling, being outside, reading, baking, and visiting friends and family.

Lindsay Hur, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Lindsay was born in Seoul, Korea and grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland and San Diego, California. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree at University of California, San Diego and moved to Minneapolis to obtain her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities in May 2014. Her professional interests include critical care, infectious disease, transplant, and pharmacy practice management. Lindsay’s goals for the residency year include strengthening her clinical knowledge in a variety of pharmacy practice areas and to continue developing her leadership skills. Lindsay is currently a member of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) and Minnesota College of Clinical Pharmacy (MCCP), and plans to continue her involvement in local and national professional organizations. After completing her residency, she hopes to practice in an acute care hospital setting and become a preceptor for pharmacy students. Outside of Pharmacy, Lindsay loves to travel, explore new hiking routes, attend baseball games, and roll around in the snow during the long Minnesota winters.

Andrew Lenander, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Andy is Minnesotan, born and bred. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, golfing, watching sports and hanging out with his family and friends. Andy’s favorite food is hot dish (google it!). Though he appears to live a sheltered, Minnesotan life, he does love to travel all around the world with wife. He attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for undergrad and pharmacy school before becoming a resident at Abbott Northwestern. Andy expects to develop meaningful relationships during his residency, as well as increase his confidence in making difficult therapeutic decisions. In addition, he plans to improve his time management and leadership skills. His interest areas include cardiology, critical care and transitional care. After PGY-1, Andy hopes to work for an innovative and patient-centered health care system as a clinical pharmacist.

Jon Malepsy, PharmD
PGY2 Infectious Disease Pharmacy Resident

Jon grew up in Litchfield, Minnesota. He completed his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, and then stayed for his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. He completed his PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Abbott Northwestern before starting the PGY2 infectious disease residency. His professional interests include antibiotic stewardship and antibiotic resistance. Jon’s personal interests include golfing, snowboarding, fishing and camping.

Tanya VanVoorst, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident

Tanya grew up in Hull, Iowa, located in the northwest corner of the state. She earned her Associate in Science Degree of Dental Hygiene at Minnesota State University, Mankato and worked as a hygienist for 10 years. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Minnesota in May 2014. Her practice interests include cardiology and critical care. Tanya’s goals for the residency year include strengthening her clinical knowledge and developing her leadership skills. After residency, she hopes to work as a clinical pharmacist in an acute care hospital setting and become a preceptor for student pharmacists. Outside of pharmacy, Tanya enjoys riding bike and reading with her two sons, cooking with her husband and antiquing with her mom.
