Abbott Northwestern was the first hospital in Minnesota to be accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, primarily because of Minneapolis Heart Institute®'s Level One Heart Attack program. Neurological emergenciesTo treat neurological emergencies like stroke or brain injury, the ED has access to the resources and expertise of the Neuroscience Institute. Clinical Decision and Rapid Treatment UnitSome patients do not require treatment by the ED team, but do need to stay for observation before determining whether they should be discharged. For them, we have a Clinical Decision and Rapid Treatment (CDART) Unit located next to the ED.
