It’s not enough for some Abbott Northwestern doctors and employees to give of their time and talents at work. Many of them also have stepped up to make a donation to the $5 million fundraising campaign to support The Mother Baby Center, set to open in February 2013

“We can all take pride in helping to build this beautiful new facility, which will offer our community the best possible care in a healing, contemporary environment,” said Anne Langaard, director of development, Abbott Northwestern Hospital Foundation. “The Mother Baby Center will provide care for more than 4,000 mothers, their babies and their families each year for decades to come.”

As the region’s premier birth and baby destination, mothers and babies will benefit from the comprehensive approach to care—all under the same roof.

Mothers of healthy babies and those needing specialty care will be near their newborns, connected to the neonatal intensive care unit, if needed. All mothers will be able to hold, feed and bond with their babies instead of moving from one facility to another.

“This is an amazing opportunity to be part of a joint venture with our partner, Children’s – Minneapolis, in serving the community with the best possible care for routine, as well as high-risk, pregnancies and births,” added Langaard. “Together we can ensure exemplary outcomes, family satisfaction, coordinated planning and a holistic approach to birth through the strengths of Abbott Northwestern and Children’s – Minneapolis.”
