Virginia Piper Cancer Institute leader says colon cancer rates decreasing

Minnesota's colon cancer rate has been decreasing over the past 10 years, says Tim Sielaff, MD, president, Virginia Piper Cancer Institute. But as many as 800 Minnesotans die from colon cancer each year.

The staff and physicians at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute's Colorectal Program coordinate all of the services related to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of colorectal cancer.

Our staff

A number of physicians from within different specialties on the Abbott Northwestern Hospital campus are actively involved in the Colorectal Program.

They participate in monthly treatment planning conferences to review recent cases. This helps improve the consistency and quality of care.
